Police in Columbia County were called shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24 about a break-in at the Hudson Terrace Apartments in the city of Hudson.

The victim told investigators that a man had forced his way into her apartment before approaching her and stealing her cell phone.

He then exited her home and stripped down to just his underwear while in a hallway.

As officers were investigating the break-in, someone in a different unit called 911 saying a man was knocking on apartment windows wearing only his underwear.

The man, identified as 30-year-old El-Shamar Thornton, of Hudson, was arrested and taken to Columbia Memorial Health Hospital for medical treatment.

After being medically cleared, Thornton was charged with robbery and burglary, both felonies.

He was arraigned in Hudson City Court and taken to the Columbia County jail without bail.
